BREAKING NEWS! The Jacksons (Katherine, LaToya, Tito, Jackie and Marlon) just held their press conference which was streamed live on CNN. The concert will be held on Saturday, October 8th, there will be another press conference on August 3rd, and tickets will go on sale the next day, August 4th!New website dedicated to this concert! michaelforevertribute.com/I'm very surprised that this concert will be held during Michael's trial. You will note when you go to the website that it will be held in Wales, UK! That means that Katherine and the family will miss a court day? Anyway, as soon as a video is posted or CNN and other media posts their articles, I'll add them here.

The BBC just posted this article: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-14282553Well unfortunately, some fans incuding Justice4MJ are mad at the Jacksons for hosting this tribute concert at the time of the trial. I understand their concern but the planning of this concert has been in the works for over a year, and no one could have foreseen that Murray's trial would be pushed forward to Sept./Oct. Maybe this thread should go under Rants? What do you think of the concert being held at this time? Your thoughts Jermaine and Randy just tweeted their statement... they will NOT support this concert for the above reason: On Monday 25th July 2011, @jermjackson5 said: STATEMENT FROM JERMAINE & RANDY JACKSON RE THE MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE CONCERTJuly 25, 2011 Today's press conference in Los Angeles announced a tribute concert to Michael to be attended and supported by the Jackson Family. However, we want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family. While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death. As everyone knows, those proceedings commence September 20th, and this "Michael Forever" concert takes place in Cardiff, Wales, UK,on October 8th. In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live. Furthermore, the decision to proceed with this concert disrespects opinions and wishes expressed in the strongest terms to Global Live during conversations in April when this event was presented to the majority of the family as an idea already in its advanced stages. There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael. But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name. From what we know so far, yes the concert could be amazing. I don't have a problem with it taking place during the trial. I actually think it would be great to have something positive take place during that time, to balance things a bit. I don't have a problem with the Jacksons supporting the concert by giving it their blessing but I do find it inappropriate of them to attend. The concert will be on a Saturday and I suppose it is possible for them to leave L.A. after court on Friday and then return again before Monday morning but I just don't think it is appropriate. That is just my personal opinion.
But here is what I have a REAL problem with: From what I read on the tribute web page, the tickets will go to the highest bidders! I don't think that is in the spirit of Michael at all!!! Apparently you have to register for a ticket to begin with, you pay a certain amount for the ticket and then you must pledge some amount to go to a charity on top of that. Then the highest bidders will get the tickets. I do realize that this is very good for those charities but this may exclude many of Michael's fans from attending because of financial reasons and I just think that is really unfair!

The price of the tickets ranges from 55 British Pounds to 289 Pounds. If they would simply raise the price by, say, 10 Pounds, and the concert will be sold out, that means that they could give 750.000 Pounds to charity. Things would be much simpler that way, not to mention much more fair.

Looks like 'The Estate' (Mr. Branca & Mr. McClain) aren't giving approval for the use of MJ's name here. This tribute concert may not happen at all now.

True Marty, the Estate has not given their approval, but do they really have to? It's not like the Jackson family or even Global Live Events will benefit, as my understanding is ALL money raised including from ticket sales is going to charity. Am I right? Iris, now that they have heard from tons of angry fans about the ticketing system, they are clarifying here that everyone will have a chance to get a ticket. yourcardiff.walesonline.co.uk/2011/07/29/new-ticket-details-emerge-about-michael-jackson-tribute-concert/And note that this concert will be streamed LIVE all over the world, so it's not like we are all out of luck anyway. Jermaine tweeted about fan concerns over his upcoming book tour during the trial... I think his explanation should satisfy the fans. He will not start touring until AFTER the trial is over. www.twitlonger.com/show/bvqvi9If Marty is correct, then maybe this is all a moot point. But I am very mad at fans for bashing this tribute concert. There is even talk of a boycott! It's not like the Jacksons will benefit, except for the $100,000 trust fund for the children, which in my opinion was a wonderful gesture. Still, they could have given that money to CHARITY instead... my opinion. I am personally thrilled about this concert to honor Michael's legacy! We have been waiting for this kind of acknowledgement from the WORLD, and maybe soon we will have it. The more I think about it being held during the trial, the more I like the idea, because it will remind the media. general public AND the jury just what an icon Michael really is, and what a huge loss has been felt by so many all over the world. He wasn't just a great singer, dancer, artist but so very much more than that! I want to answer this blogger, because she just does NOT have the facts! Once again, some fans are "making up" their own truths! mjtruthversuslies.blogspot.com/2011/07/utter-disappointment.htmlKatherine Jackson promised that she will be at the concert with as many members of her family that are available. Obviously being in the courtroom for the homicide of Michael wasn't important enough.
Taking into account that this concert has been in the planning stages for over a year, and that no one could have foreseen the trial would be going on at the same time, I believe the Jacksons are thinking they can attend the concert without missing a court day. I definitely know that Katherine would NOT miss a day if she could help it. However, if court resumes that Saturday, I bet their plans will change. Jackson family and the organizers weren't giving any money to the charities from the ticket prices but forcing people to pledge as high as possible to increase their chances to get tickets to the show.I am sure I heard it was announced that ALL money will go to charity. Is that what everyone else heard? If the focus was real charity, that money could have been given to kids in real need and not Michael's kids for who will inherit billion dollar estate. On this point, I agree. Once again Jackson family demonstrated to the whole world that they are a dysfunctional family and can never have a united front. They can't even solve their disagreements in private. This argument is ridiculous! This blogger (and many other fans) wants the Jacksons to do their bickering in private? That would mean that fans would be outraged at the WHOLE family, not just some. In my opinion, the Jacksons just can't win, can they? They try to support something positive FOR Michael's legacy and his fans, and they get outrage! I'm really sick and tired of this bashing of the family. Do they even think of what Michael would want? No of course not... they are being so self righteous about the Jacksons. As if it's a crime that they are not perfect. Who has a perfect family anyway? Doesn't EVERY family disagree, argue, fight? Come on, people! Give the Jacksons a break... Michael LOVED his family even though they didn't always agree. Seriously. They (the Estate) washed their hands clean of Jacksons and the tribute concert. If this is true, then my theory is correct, that this concert will be held as scheduled. It's just that the Estate will not endorse it, that's all. No big whoop. A brief search into Jackson family's partner Global Live Events, that promised galaxy of international stars, showed that they were just established in March 2011.Where the heck did she come up with this? Did she not LISTEN to the press conference? Global Live Events has been around for many years and tons of celebrities including Michael have worked with them! The certificate on her site shows a partnership between Global Live Events and the Cardiff arena, that's all. ...we are experiencing the exploitation of Michael, his kids and his fans. This time it's even worse as it is happening right during a time when justice for Michael's homicide must be the priority.Exploitation? Is she serious? What kind of exploitation is it for major performers and the world to celebrate Michael's music? Isn't this what we want? Sure, I agree the timing could have been better BUT like I said, it's not easy to organize such a massive event when so many people are involved and when we consider scheduling conflicts, it would be way too late to postpone it. I'm sure they already have all the performers lined up for this event. What's your opinion? And do you think the concert will go ahead as scheduled? Some fans are already saying this whole idea is a bust. We will just have to wait until August 3rd to hear more details!

Looks like the concert is going ahead as planned... they are just lining up acts right now, and released this statement on their website:
The organisers of the Michael Forever Tribute Concert are very mindful of the expectations of the fans, who have waited over two years for an event that will do justice to Michael’s musical legacy. Some of the greatest names in music are already signed, and more are trying to shuffle other commitments to come on board.
Chairman of Global Live Events Chris Hunt said “We will be announcing an incredible line-up very soon. The registration period was put on hold because we want people to know who they are registering to see. Between now and October we will be continuing to add names to the line-up so more announcements will follow. Fans of Michael’s music will get the concert they've been waiting for."
I for one am thrilled about this tribute, but I realize I'm in the minority, as most fans are upset it will go ahead. Craig David, who I've never heard of, just tweeted he will be performing, and already fans are attacking him for participating! That is just not right! Fans seem to think this is all about the Jacksons making a profit... can I ask anyone at all why they think that? This is not about lining the Jacksons pockets, but rather all for charity! Am I wrong here?
It REALLY bothers me that fans are turning into haters! This is NOT what Michael would want! I really wish they would see that.
If someone has a different view, or wants to explain it to me, please do.

More news about Craig David... www.nme.com/news/craig-david/58491Since he tweeted though, he has deleted all his tweets regarding the concert. I have a feeling that he jumped the gun and concert organizers were not happy about that. After all, they say on their website they will announce the whole list of performers at one time.

Katherine Jackson and a rep from Global Live were just on CNN talking about the concert and the controversy: www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2011/08/15/exp.nr.michael.jackson.tribute.cnn?iref=allsearchVery unfortunately, I just heard that Gene Simmons and KISS have been asked to perform. Say what? Gene gave an interview to Classic Rock magazine last year, saying Michael was definitely a pedophile! Say it isn't so. I don't blame the fans at all for being furious! More developments coming as I get them....

I was definately FURIOUS when I heard about this MAL, the good news is that they have been dropped!! The fact that they were even invited in the 1st place shows me that these promoters have NO CLUE about who Michael was at all!!

I was too busy today to watch the concert (yes, you could watch it streaming live for a small fee) but the whole concert will be on YT in some form or another soon, I'm sure. First pic of the kids on stage! I'm so happy for them! Aren't they beautiful? Michael would be and IS so proud! twitpic.com/6x6rezOnce again, all the performers listed on their website: home.michaelforevertribute.com/home.html
