Michael Jackson taught me to dance.

No, I'm not referring to the robot or the moonwalk.
I'm talking THIS cool easy move.
The one in the video Dancing Machine.
Loved that Jackson 5 song as a kid.
The "step forward-kick back, switch the leg, step forward-kick back..twirl..."
All the kids in my neighborhood did it.
They would fall on the ground trying to see how many times they could spin!
When Thriller came out, Michael was riding the stars.
Vincent Price's creepy voiceover on the song Thriller was just epic!
That ingenious dance routine has since become legendary.
I remember kids in college doing it.
Friends still like to learn and perform it together.
Michael was a brilliant artist and at his best.
Then his reputation was flushed down the toilet by the media.
Much of my children's generation seem to know him as "a freak".
I had taken a group of teens to Taco Bell today when the cashier said, "Did you hear? Michael Jacksons dead".
One of my son's friends heard his name and said, "you mean that pervert?"
I shot back, "he was not a pervert!"
I then calmed down and said, "I'm sorry you heard that but it isn't true, don't believe everything you hear, research things for yourself."
I could hear a wispered, "what's with your mom?" as we were driving.
When we were home and the kids were settled, I went in my room and cried.
He was never convicted of anything.
But because of all the false reporting, he was tried and found guilty in the minds of so many before the trial even began.
And that's the attitude most of the following generations grew up with.
I'm praying that with time, Michael can be remembered most for his talent.
And it's up to us to help make that happen.
His music is already having a resurgence on the airwaves.
And he is revered by today's artists like Usher and Akon.
That should also put him in the forefront of today's young peoples mind.
The loss of Michael is so great.
We have lost a world ambassador who dedicated his life to peace and good will.
We lost an attentive childrens advocate, who was so sensitive to their needs, he traveled the planet tending to them.
We lost the music and vision he had for our future.
But most importantly, my heart is broken for his family.
Their loss is unimaginable.
We love you Michael.
God please take care of his dear, precious soul.
