JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED!
What a beautiful day! When Brian Panish, rep for the Jackson family, read their impact statement, I cried. Then Judge Pastor started admonishing Murray, really bashing him, calling the whole mess "medicine madness!" And the judge was SO mad at Murray's faux documentary as he called it (that is French for fake), taking note that Murray said he was NOT guilty and did nothing wrong, and had NO remorse! AND that Murray blamed his victim! Ooooh, Pastor was practically seething when he spoke about that. So really, Murray's CROCKumentary was what did him in with the judge! NOW do you believe in KARMA?
And I was PRAYING that the judge would sentence him to 4 years, and he DID! I cried again, with tears of joy. They all decided to defer the restitution amount, until they could get supporting documents and an itemized list of the costs. The LA court had NEVER come across such a huge sum for restitution, so they will have to figure that one out. According to the Estate, Michael's loss of earnings from the 50 tour dates and his funeral expenses came to a total amount of $101,800,821.27 or something like that They set the date of January 23, 2012 to come back to court once the Prosecutors had all the back-up, and then Pastor will rule on exactly how much Murray is supposed to pay back.
I continued to watch the ABC live feed after court was over, when Flanagan was giving a press conference. This part was good... Flanagan was talking about Murray's exemplary life and doctor's practice, when a heckler yelled out, "until he killed Michael Jackson."
YAY right on! Very soon after that, Flanagan couldn't take the hecklers and ended the press conference
Then the ABC news team got word from the sherrif at the LA County Jail, making a statement that Conrad Murray will NOT be released early due to overcrowding! YES! So that means his 4 years will be cut in half, but he WILL remain behind bars for almost 2 YEARS!
Then Steve Cooley, Walgren and Brazell held their own press conference. Cooley is very upset about the new California law which lets criminals serve their time in county jail, instead of state prison. Walgren was asked if he found the Murray trial a hard case to prosecute. His short answer was NO, with a smile on his face. He was also asked what it felt like to walk down the halls facing the gauntlet of fans cheering for him. He said it was a lot better than the alternative
It was a beautiful day for JUSTICE.
