LOL Mal, again I will have to refer to Nut's response- it is a huge topic and so you may need to be more specific to get a decent answer. For example, does one want to do healing (and what kind), energy, chakra, etc there are a lot of different things to do with crystals and gemstones. Not trying to be difficult but you have to understand that the only real hard and fast rule when dealing with crystals and gemstones and spirituality in general is that there are no real rules. Like spirituality- it is an individual thing. So for your general question- what to know first- I'd say you have to understand the nature of the universe- that being that everything is energy. Once you can wrap your mind around the fact that everything is energy and you can truly believe this and have faith in this then you are ready to use energy to help you in your life There actually has been a lot of scientific studies done on this that can get quite technical =, areas of study in quantum physics, the string theories and so on. But the truth of the matter is that none of us need to be a scientific genius to understand that everything is energy- every rock, tree, human body, our thoughts etc are all energy. So that's where to start- wrap your mind around this fact and truly believe it, then you'll be on your way The next thing I'd ask is how much do you know about the chakras and the colors associated with the different chakras? It is relatively easy to learn the different colors and chakras (or areas of the body), and this is the body's healing system. Once it is learned you can use it to quickly identify what crystal or mineral to use for specific healing. Color, like crystals and gemstones- and everything is all about the energy. So, each color has properties specific to itself and so does each different crystal and gemstone. Now some can contain multiple colors and some properties can cross over- in other words some crystals can do more than one specific thing. So the basics of how it works- The use of color to create or alter certain emotions or moods has long been an excepted practice by many traditional professional mental health doctors and care givers. We also borrow from ancient eastern culture to further associate these colors to the various chakra centers in the body. A chakra is an energy center of which there 7 major centers starting with the root located at the base of the spine and ending at the crown of the head. Each chakra has an associated color (or colors) and each of these colors can be easily associated with the colors of the crystals or minerals which affect that area of the body. Another common question is does size and/or quantity of the crystal or gemstone matter? It has been shown through Kerlian photography that the aura or energy fields surrounding objects extend a considerable distance from its core. In other words- the bigger pieces usually cost more, however, the truth of the matter is even small, lesser quality crystal / mineral, in essence have the same energy fields as bigger more expensive ones. It becomes a matter of personal taste and pocket-book- but the key is to choose the right kind of crystal rather than worry about size. |

Great topic. I use aquamarine to balance out the red in me and I like to believe that the stone has the color that I think is around what I perceive to be my angel.
I have aquamarine earrings that I wear a lot. When I pick a stone I usually go by the emotion and feeling I get from the stone. I wonder how others work with them. Please share your experiences.
