Here's another article telling us what to expect in the OPUS. WOW, it sounds so amazing!
NEW YORK -- Nate Giorgio, an artist, last saw Michael Jackson just days before his death.
Jackson wanted Giorgio to create murals of his children as well as artwork for his "This Is It" concerts.
During the talks, Giorgio took out a pen.
"I was doing little drawings on the spot of him, and he loved it," Giorgio said of his black-and-white sketches. "He was great; he was really excited."
The previously unseen sketches, along with other rare works and photographs, are collected in the lavish, leather-bound The Official Michael Jackson Opus -- due Dec. 7.
The book, the only publication officially sanctioned by the Jackson estate, not only contains new images of perhaps the world's most famous face but also features essays about the superstar by friends and collaborators through the years -- from Motown founder Berry Gordy to illusionist David Blaine.
Although many other Jackson volumes have been printed since the singer died on June 25 at age 50, Opus stands out, according to Jeff Wald, president of Opus Media Group.
What his publishing team decided was that "This would not be a red-carpet, sound-bite kind of a book," Wald said.
"It wasn't about 'Yeah, he's a great singer, a great dancer.' It was much more in depth about the human being that he was."
To that end, company executive Jordan Sommers elicited essays not as tributes but as personal reflections.
Some discuss Jackson the jokester; others recall his artistic genius; still others ponder his friendship.
"There's a lot of information from the book that comes directly from sources that will clear up a lot of misconceptions," Sommers said. "There are stories told directly from the likes of Smokey Robinson (and others) that they've never told before."
The photos, some of which were provided by friends such as Gordy, range from Jackson's childhood to his many transformations as an adult.
"Our mandate," Wald said, "was to have most of the photos either not be seen ever before or never, ever seen in the format in which they had been (shown)."
He considered having the $249 book -- totaling 400 pages and weighing 26 pounds -- benefit Jackson's children and his mother, but the family didn't play any role in its creation.
"We just decided this would be something apart from the family," Wald said. "It was about Michael. . . . We really stayed narrowly to that."

I received the following email from the OPUS crew on Friday. YAY!
MJ OPUS Delivery Update -
Dear customer,
As publisher of The Official Michael Jackson Opus, the Opus Media Group would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your contribution to the extraordinary and unprecedented demand for what we believe is a fitting tribute to a true legend.
We wanted to provide you with a delivery update for your Opus. Following the hugely successful launch of The Official Michael Jackson Opus in Los Angeles earlier this week, inclement weather conditions and customs intervention have caused us to adjust our shipping schedule slightly for the Opus. Below is the updated Opus shipping schedule:
For Opus orders placed before December 1: Rest assured that your Opus will be delivered well before Christmas and, in the majority of cases, by December 18 2009. To help you better track your package, once your order is fulfilled, you will be sent a shipping email and tracking code from Fedex, either later today or early next week.
For Opus orders placed December 2 and after: Opus Media Group will make every effort possible to ensure these are also delivered before Christmas, but we can only guarantee delivery before Christmas for orders placed before December 1. To help you better track your package, once your order is fulfilled, you will also be sent a shipping email and tracking code from Fedex.
We know your Official Michael Jackson Opus will provide you with beautiful and lasting memories of Michael Jackson. We sincerely thank you for your patronage and your patience.
Have a great holiday.
Sincerely,
Opus Media Group.

12/17/2009 I have some news to cheer your world...and I know you could use some cheering. Put on a smile because...the OPUS HAS ARRIVED! I walked in my front door last night and my Aunt told me: some packages arrived for you. Thinking it was Christmas packages, I was trying to remember who might have sent me something or if I had ordered anything. I wasn't thinking OPUS because that wasn't scheduled to arrive until Friday. But then she said MICHAEL JACKSON and HEAVY and I ran for the kitchen, where she indicated the BOXES were...and there it was! I dropped by backpack, grabbed the phone and called Nut right away...and screamed into her ear! She hadn't received hers yet and I was all apologetic...but, OH MY! She said: WHAT ARE YOU DOING? OPEN IT and give me a play by play! But, I couldn't, I was SPEECHLESS! I opened the FIRST box and then the INNER box and then the RED COVER box and finally the OPUS itself. Oh…it is so BEAUTIFUL and does Mike such a tremendous honor and tribute. Really really...words do escape me. It is far too many pages to go through in one sitting. You cannot possibly read the entirety in one sitting. I skimmed through it, though this was an injustice to the tome itself. But, I had to. I'd had insomnia off and on for days and I was literally asleep on my feet. I hadn't had dinner, I'd just been to purchase my first ever laptop computer and was on a mental high over that and the OPUS just put me over the top as far as the mental high went. I sat in the same spot for 2 hours, turning pages left and right, going back and forward…drying my tears, laughing, sighing…you do that. Go through a gambit of emotions. It’s impossible not to. With Mike over my shoulder, urging me onward…I read a few writings…and I looked for the pages set aside for the fans (there was only 1 page for the submitted writings which bothered me for a second before I admitted that as we each wrote our dedications Mike was privy to them and THAT was what was important, not that they MIGHT possibly be featured in these pages). Another favorite of mine depicts Mike as Peter Pan and still another, Heaven and Earth in which Mike is a baby supported on a golden blanket by surrounding cherubs. There is symbolism in there, if you can pick out the messages and it is a white flag but far be it for me to raise that flag or scream this message from ocean to ocean. The message is for the viewer to see...each individual will, if they are open to the belief. I love pages 110-112...but really, how can you pick and choose? If I had children to pass this down to, I would be so honored. I don't. But...WOW. I really wish I did. Mike makes me wish I had children...he does that to me. He makes me want to be MORE. That's Mike, the inspiring one. Forever Eternal. I immediately cleared a shelf on my bookcase...I had been in the process of doing that already but got side tracked. I had been an avid reader before and collected a small mass of paperback books but had been clearing those out to make room for my MJ books, etc. I moved more of the books, cleared a shelf and slid the OPUS into it's new home...right where it belongs. Be forewarned, it really is HEAVY. Just like it should be. A fitting tribute to OUR KING.
I love you I love you more I love you most
always and forever Poeticowl

Hayat, I STILL haven't received my OPUS yet either - as of December 18th - NO OPUS!! They promised we'd have it by Christmas, though, so I'm not giving up hope! I just need to be a little more patient. I think patience is something Mike is trying to help me with! I love you more! Jacque

Hi, everyone!
Well, I finally received my Opus email notification this afternoon (12/21) and at that time, my book was in Carol Stream, Illinois (a Chicago suburb). My anticipated delivery date is Christmas Eve, December 24th! Oh, I can't hardly wait! I just need to be patient a little while longer and I will be pouring over and absorbing my very own copy!! I will be in heaven, completely mesmerized!!! Just like I was when I received my hard copy edition of Dancing the Dream in the mail last month!! ;D
I love you more! Jacque

I hope you'll get yours tomorrow Jacque, I really do... I still have no idea when mine is coming. They claimed it's gonna be here the 22nd, still nothing. No email no nothing. I've mailed them, but no idea if they're gonna reply soon, cuz as I understand there are many MANY like me who are still waiting on the Opus. I don't know why they won't let us know what's really happening, we're customers... We payed a looong time ago. I had to google around to see if I was the only one who didn't have it in Europe - Belgium. This really really sucks I really feel as if my order is being missed or something.
But hey, nothing to do right! All of you who have it already, give MJ a big kiss from me on every Page of the Opus ok (hahahaaaa) just kidding!
Love you all, have a great and marry Christmas!!!

I'm so envious of those of you who have the OPUS. I simply can't afford it right now. I hope that when I get the funds together, it will not have shot up to an exorbitant amount. Sigh ...
Well, in the absence of an OPUS, I'm off to continue my (purposely) slow read through Moonwalk and try my first attempt at a Bubble of Love. (I will report back Mal--thanks for your instructions!)
