I just love when the whole world comes together! What better way than in celebration. I'm most proud to be a Canadian at these times, when we can celebrate the talent of Canadians athletes during the Winter Olympics. Here's the Canadian TV's beautiful theme song! www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP9IQuz-jlkIf you only watch one thing this week, be sure to watch the Opening Ceremonies this Friday at 6:00 p.m. CST Remember that we'll also get to see Michael's new "We are the World!"

I am on the email list for Walk the Talk and I just received this one this morning. It reminded me of your post, Mal, about the Olympics being held in Vancouver, Canada this winter. It also reminded me that Mike ALWAYS gave 212 - the extra degree! ;D Do you know what today is? Today is February 12th, or 2/12. And for us at WalkTheTalk.com, the number 212 holds special significance. 212, the degree at which water boils, produces steam, and generates enough force to power a locomotive, is the definition of success.
Coincidently today, on 2/12, the 21st Winter Olympic Games will begin. And over the next 16 days, athletes from all over the world will have the opportunity to achieve results beyond their wildest expectations by claiming the title of Olympic Champion. Imagine all of the time that these individuals have spent in preparation for these Olympic Games: hours spent practicing, nights spent dreaming, years spent focusing. By going the extra degree, these athletes are now competing among the best of the best in one of the most recognized sporting events on the planet.
So today, on 2/12, get into the Olympic Spirit, and take a moment to watch our 212° the extra degree movie, which inspires us to achieve results beyond our wildest expectations.
And please pass this along to others so that they, too, will be inspired to turn up the heat.To view a short movie about "212 - the extra degree", go to www.walkthetalk.com/pages/inspirational-movies.htmEnjoy! Jacque

I don't know if anyone else on this forum is from Vancouver, but I am. It's been quite the time, let me tell you. The news of Georgian luger, Nodar Kumaritashvili, dying in training this morning has been quite a hard blow. It's all so close to home.
That being said, the Opening Ceremonies were all I could have asked for: First Nations representation and ritualistic welcome; amazing lighting effects that would have thrilled our Michael; some first class dancers and singers rocking the house (I was particularly moved by kd lang's rendition of Cohen's Hallelujah and Shane Koyczan bringing spoken word to the worldwide stage). Shane is a personal fav of mine.
Let the games begin ... right in my backyard. Let the protesters do what they feel is right and let the athletic and cultural events colour my city. It's quite the time to be alive.
