Since I posted that the New York National Museum of Dance was going to honor Michael by inducting him into the Dance Hall of Fame, there is now a fundraiser now underway to build a memorial garden there! MJ fans from everywhere are being asked to contribute, because the more money they raise, the BIGGER Michael's garden will be!
But hurry, because the event starts on August 14th. What a beautiful tribute, one that will live forever!
Museum of Dance -- Making Room for MJ Tribute 7/24/2010 12:15 AM PDT by TMZ Staff
Michael Jackson won't just get a plaque when he's inducted into the Hall of Fame at the National Museum of Dance next month ... dude is getting an entire garden -- thanks to a band of passionate fans.
TMZ has learned museum officials have agreed to make space for a permanent garden to honor the late icon -- after an MJ fan group informed employees that an influx of flowers would be headed their way on the day MJ will be enshrined.
So, instead of just letting the flowers die ... the museum's honchos -- along with a local florist -- decided to construct a permanent garden in MJ's honor on the museum's grounds.
There's a tiny catch -- the MJ fan group is gonna have to foot the bill for the garden -- and the size of the garden will be determined by how much cash they raise.

I received the following email from one of the organizers of the group... Sent: Fri, July 23, 2010 7:00:41 PM Subject: Re: Time sensitive tribute for MJ! Dear all, I hope u forgive me for including this here, but I would not want you to miss the opportunity to be part of this beautiful (and time sensitive!!!) project for MJ. He will be inducted into the National Dance Museum Hall of Fame in Saratog Springs NY, on Aug 14th. We obtained the space from the Museum, and recruited a superb designer to create a garden of remembrance for MJ (plants, benches, maybe fountain depending on funds) and also along the way offer free dance lessons to underpriviledged children. If you love this, please join us. In this economy, people who would really like to, cannot contribute a lot, so we need a lot of people:)! You could either donate as little as you can, or spread the word to your MJ lovers friends, ASAP, please:).... Thank you for reading all this, and here is the link. If you don't have a facebook account, it might be worth considering, so you can join:)! www.facebook.com/?tid=408210851425&sk=messages#!/group.php?gid=133072320064563&ref=ts Ralu

Just a quick update from one of the organizers of this event in honor of MJ... Good news for the garden. The first two statues were purchased for the garden today. I don't know how much you want me to tell and how much to keep as a surprise for when it is all completed. If you have not donated yet, we are really getting down to the wire if we are going to have it finished by mid-September. Here is the link donation. You can check out Rena's or the museum's page on here as we are listed on their page as well. Thank you so much and have a great weekend. www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=6FH4Y3YMNR7D6 Note that they are asking for donations up until mid-September, so there is still plenty of time to contribute. Unfortunately, they haven't raised nearly enough in order to fulfill the vision they see for an incredible memorial garden, so please give! I did, and it felt good to do what I can for his legacy. Good news! The event including Michael's induction into the Dance Hall of Fame was a big success! Local news articles will be published soon, and I'll share those here. One of the attendees took lots of pictures of Michael's exhibit, and I got to see her album on Facebook - WOW! Even better news! For the memorial garden campaign, we were lucky enough to receive a $20,000 donation from an anonymous angel donor! That means Rena from Rena's Fine Flowers has received over $29,000, more than enough to build an incredible Memorial Garden! I bet you can tell we are absolutely thrilled! Michael's garden will be more beautiful than we can imagine, so our prayers have been answered The garden will be completed sometime in mid-September, and I promise to share the pictures then. Mal

Thanks for donating, forever! It feels so good to give, especially for building a garden honoring Michael. He gave so much to us, so this is something us fans can give in his memory. Here's an update from Kim, one of the organizers... they need the money urgently! From Kim Bailey August 25 at 10:07am Good morning/afternoon/evening to everyone! Greetings! I just wanted to let you know that if everyone contributed $15 we would make our goal of $52,000 for Michael's birthday. $25 would help us to our top goal. Please help us to reach this goal by Michael's birthday so we make this garden a reality by mid-September. We need to know we will have the money for the contractors who are putting the stone walkway and the fountains, sprinklers, and lights. We also are trying to secure the statues so they are not sold out from under us. Thank you so much and have a beautiful day! www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=6FH4Y3YMNR7D6
