This really warms my heart! Notice that there was NO news coverage about this worldwide dance?
Well luckily, Entertainment Tonight reported yesterday on the flash mob dance in Los Angeles and their cameras were there to tape it! AND I'm very proud to say that 50,000 or more people around the globe danced to Thriller, making this event a new world record!
YAY!

I'm so excited for Thrill the World Vancouver: www.ttwvancouver.com/. I'm going to my first dance rehearsal tomorrow and on the 23rd there will be people on hand to do makeup and help with costuming for the dancers. All proceeds will go to my local food bank, so I can feel good about it serving a larger purpose (although I would do it just for the fun of it, too!) I will take photos and report back! L.O.V.E. to you all, Mel

Here's another flash mob event I found, this one in South Carolina... www.goupstate.com/article/20101016/ARTICLES/10161006/1097?tc=arI'm noticing a lot more news coverage on Thrill the World this year, which is a good thing! More credit given to Michael now, which is so long overdue! I'm thrilled for our members who are lucky enough to participate this year in their own cities - I know you'll have a blast and we want to hear all the "scary" details

Well, it's the eve of Thrill the World and I'm excited. I've been to one preparatory rehearsal and there's a crash course for three hours right before the dance at 4:00 p.m. It's going to be a long day, but I'm doing it all for MJ.
Let me tell you, I have a newfound respect for all of his choreography. Not that I didn't always have the utmost respect for it, but when you're inhabiting the moves and stumbling over transitions, you think about his quicksilver moves and ... well ... sigh in awe.

Yes, I bet it was difficult to learn his moves! But so much fun! I can hardly wait to hear your "report." And you promised pictures too! WOOHOO!

It was so much fun! Young and old and every age in between gathered together to be silly and "undead" and celebrate Michael, the legacy of Thriller, and the joys of engaging in play ... being creative and childlike. Here is a video of the event in Vancouver: www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-Luz5TmO-oI'm the short one at the very beginning in the makeup lineup wearing a red shirt and blue jean overalls. In the dance, I am on the upper level, about 5 people to the right of the guy in a Superman costume, occasionally peeking out from behind a woman wearing a beige shirt and black skirt. I LOVE the little girl in the front wearing a white dress ... she's so good (and so cute!) As we were counting down to 4:00 (Pacific Time for the dance) our voices echoed in the circular courtyard and I stared up at the grey sky raining down on us and just started laughing with joy and excitement. I know Michael was thrilled to see all of us honouring and celebrating his creation. Love to all of you, Mel

That was thrilling, Mel! Thanks for sharing. Too bad I could barely see you but looks like it was an incredible experience! I found another very cool collection of oh so scary pics of some participants there, and watch this guy's video! Wow, they all did an excellent job. The point was to not only do a tribute to Michael, but to have fun too. Michael loved it! www.beyondrobson.com/music/2010/10/thrill_the_world_vancouver_2010/

I cried when I came across this video... world record broken last year in Mexico City.... 130,000 people! I'm sure they had to shut the whole city down! Isn't this incredible? www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLiyt5WB1W8What an amazing tribute to Michael!
